Dental Services

FAMILY dentistry

Our office is happy to offer many dental services to accommodate your entire family's dental care for a lifetime.  We welcome patients of all ages and our office is handicap accessible for most wheelchair patients.  Pound & Pound Family Dentistry has a philosophy of care that begins with the education of good home dental care that encompasses children getting their first teeth to patients that are in their extended years. Every stage of life has specific dental care and needs in order to maintain a lifetime of usage and enjoyment of your natural teeth.  Our dental hygienists recommend bringing your 3 year old child for their "first" visit when you come for your dental cleaning.  We can then explain what we are doing for them and schedule a short visit at your next cleaning appointment.  As we age, various concerns develop with our oral conditions such as decay, misalignment, tissue sensitivity, tooth structure breakdown, oral trauma, periodontal disease, tooth extraction, tooth replacement, and tooth restoration. In most circumstances, our office can accommodate all of these treatments. For specialized situations, we will offer referrals to the proper professional best suited to treat your dental need.  We hope you find our office to be exceptional in the technology used, in our highly trained staff, the attractive and comfortable office surroundings and just as importantly, a friendly caring atmosphere.  Please feel free to ask questions and we will be happy to help.

teeth whitening

At Pound & Pound Family Dentists we use several options for the teeth whitening process to help you achieve a whiter, brighter smile.  Not everyone's tooth surfaces or lifestyle is the same and therefore we can help determine which whitening system will work the best for you.

Before any whitening process is begun, we advise a thorough professional dental cleaning.  This cleaning will remove any topical layers of plaque and stain and help give you the best results.  We also recommend any crown work or composite fillings be done after you achieve your whitening preference so the color of the restoration materials can be matched.

We offer the Take-Home Crest Whitening Kit.  Our kit contains a slightly different solution than the kits you can buy over-the-counter.  This kit will be the simplest and most gentle solution currently on the market.  It is easy to use at home and you determine the best time of the day or week for the applications.  While it generally will not change tooth color more than a shade, it is a great way to "brighten" your natural color or use in between the more costly processes.

Another product we recommend is the Smile Perfected kit.  Again, it is easy to use with pre-filled whitening trays that fit comfortably and allows you to relax the jaw while whitening.  The initial process begins in our office and takes just under an hour.  We activate the solution using a special LED light to achieve professional whitening results.  Upon completion, you will take-home a maintenance whitening pen to help extend your results. This process requires a scheduled appointment with a hygienist.  Please ask her about the process and fee when you come in for your routine dental cleaning.

tooth restoration options

In today's technology, there are many choices of materials for restoring the natural shape, function, life and look of a tooth.  Routine restorations or "fillings" are usually completed using white composite material and the familiar amalgam or silver material.  Our office prefers to use the white composite materials as they are the most like a tooth--not only in color choice but in their ability to be contoured naturally and remain durable for many years.  The white composite restorations are now used in posterior (rear) teeth as well as the front teeth.

Because of individual preference and some insurance companies rules, the amalgam material is still available in our office.  It is long-lasting, and safe to use.

implants

Dr. Nick and Dr. Nate are very experienced and work closely with local oral surgeons and periodontists in the placement and completion of an implant. An implant is created and placed to rebuild your tooth/teeth in a beautiful and natural looking manner. If a dental implant is an option for you to replace a missing tooth (teeth), we can explain the role our office will have in this process.   A special metal post is secured into your bone just as your natural tooth was for maximum usage and for maintaining the natural facial contours.  After the healing process, we will take over the implant treatment by making a beautiful tooth that fits perfectly over the metal implant, blending with your natural dentition.  When your implant treatment is complete, you will be able to chew, speak and socialize without any worry or negative feelings of missing, loose or misfitting tooth replacements.  For any questions or to schedule a consultation about an implant, please call our office.
