Bonding is a process in which tooth-colored material is applied to tooth surfaces, sculpted into shape, hardened, and polished to match surrounding teeth. With this procedure Drs. Nick and Nate Pound can close gaps, repair chipped or fractured teeth, and disguise discolored teeth. Bonding usually requires one office visit. Bonding is the choice of treatment for patients who have minor front tooth imperfections.
Tooth-whitening procedures offer patients with stained, discolored, or dull teeth an opportunity to have a whiter, brighter smile. Whitening significantly reduces external surface stains affected by food and beverage.
- At Home Whitening--We provide an at-home whitening system, which is comfortable and affordable, in conjunction with in-office appointments to monitor progress. We take impressions of your mouth to prepare your custom-fitted trays, and specifically select a whitening program for you. The process is then completed in the comfort of your own home. Our office also sells whitening kits with press-on strips. These strips contain stronger whitening material than any over-the-counter kits. They are great for teens and for patients having difficulty wearing the custom trays.
- In Office Whitening-This process may be done in one visit or may require multiple visits depending on how your teeth respond to the whitening gel. Each appointment takes about two hours. Gum protection is applied, the whitening gel is applied and a special light is used to further enhance the whitening. The advantages of power whitening include our doing all the work for you and in less time than you would spend at home whitening your teeth. The disadvantages include the normal inconveniences of any dental treatment such as having to keep your mouth open slightly for the duration of the appointment and the possibility of increased costs as compared to home whitening.
