Advanced Technology

We are constantly striving to provide our patients with the finest dental care available. Our investment in advanced technology means a long-term investment in your future, because state-of-the-art technology invites informed decision-making and enables patients to make wise choices concerning their oral health. Drs. Nick and Nate Pound offer the latest dental technology for your benefit:

VELscope
The Mucosal Examination System

VELscope is a revolutionary hand-held device that provides dentists and hygienists with and easy-to-use adjunctive mucosal examination system for the early detection of abnormal tissue and cancers. It is based on the direct visualization of tissue fluorescence and the changes in fluorescence that occurs when abnormalities are present. The VELscope Handpiece emits a safe blue light into the oral cavity, and clinician is then able to immediately view the different fluorescence responses to help differentiate between normal and abnormal tissue. In fact, VELscope is the only non-invasive adjunctive device clinically proven to help discover occult oral disease.

Digital Radiography

An intra-oral digital sensor is placed in the mouth and collects the image. Digital x-rays not only reduce the radiation exposure by 80-90%, but provide greatly enhanced diagnostic capabilities. We are also able to project an enlarged image on an in-room TV monitor to show our patients what the x-rays show us about their oral health. This system is also environmentally friendly because no chemicals are now needed to develop the x-ray, which eliminates disposal of toxic waste.

Intra-Oral Camera

This in-room camera allows us to quickly and easily photograph the inside of a patient’s mouth. The photographic images can then be enlarged and displayed on a TV monitor for viewing by the patient and doctors. This magnification allows the patients to see their mouths more clearly and to better understand their treatment options.

Computers

Our computer system is designed to efficiently manage the most complex information in the dental industry. The program not only stores and manages financial information but allows quick retrieval of all our patients’ x-rays and intra-oral pictures and treatment notes. We make sure our computer system takes care of the technicalities so that our patients are provided with the most up to date information available.  Our dental program is maintained and updated by a professional technology service to assure fast, secure results and to meet or exceed current privacy regulation.

Nitrous Oxide

This analgesic or “relaxing” gas is another way we increase our patients’ comfort level during treatment. In our office, we have a state-certified and inspected central nitrous oxide – oxygen system. Using nitrous oxide will enhance our patient’s ability to relax yet the patient remains very conscious and there are no after-effects.

Implants

We work with several local specialists in the planning, placement, and restoration of dental implants. Once the implants are placed and the necessary bone integration and healing have taken place, the patient returns to our office for their final restorations.  This method for replacing lost teeth and bone has had great success recently.  All necessary appointments and procedures are coordinated between our office and the local specialists.  While many insurance plans in the past did not covered this procedure, current acceptance is due to the success and long-lasting results.  Call our office at 517-787-0900 and we will be happy to check on your dental insurance coverage for this procedure and for any other questions you may have.

Invisalign/Align Technology

Invisalign is the best way to straighten your teeth without having to live with the “metal mouth” look of traditional braces. That’s because Invisalign is a series of clear, removable, plastic aligners that are custom-made for your teeth. Although Invisalign may not be able to correct every orthodontic problem, it can be used for a variety of spacing, crowding and alignment issues.

Invisalign aligners are made just for you with advanced 3-D computerized technology. The aligners gently move your teeth to create the smile you’ve always wanted. Here's how........

You wear each pair of aligners for a two-week period, allowing your teeth to gradually evolve into a smile that shows off the real you. Treatment length varies, depending on your dental condition and the severity of your case. But often, a full program of treatment takes less than one year.
